    Club Car Precedent Review

This is a review for the Club Car Precedent. The Club Car Precedent was released after the successful run of the Club Car DS. It was designed to be a Fleet Golf Cart for Golf Courses. That is why the Golf Cart has been manufactured since 2004. The intention of manufacturing the Golf Cart for such a long extended period of time is to cut down on costs and limit overall variety. This is perfect for the low cost needs required for lease plans for Golf Courses. It is also good to note that the Precedent uses an aluminum frame which makes it good for coastal regions and high humidity areas in terms of being rust proof.

Now, how does this affect a consumer’s decision to purchase it for their own personal uses? Well, on the plus side, the Golf Cart has been around for so long that it makes it easy to buy parts and accessories for it. In addition, they make both a gas and electric version of the vehicle. On the downside, it was designed as a one size fits all platform. For the average individual, the vehicle will fit fine with basic seats. However, if you are a taller or smaller individual, then you will find yourself in a seat that does not adjust with pedals that are in a basic position. Remember, this vehicle was not designed to be ergonomic.

In terms of safety, the Precedent line has basic stopping power with rear mechanical brakes. Besides brakes, a standard Precedent would not include headlights, brake lights and horn. All of those would be add ons since golf courses typically do not need safety features. This also means the vehicle would not have seat belts either. So, it is good to recognize if it does have seat belts that they are properly installed to keep you safe while driving. Since the frame is made out of aluminum, it has very little to keep you protected in the event of an accident. Not only that, but the struts that attach to the roof structure are minimal in their safety. Feel free to shake the vehicle to get a feel for what we mean. These are important notes to consider if you intend to drive with your family in the vehicle.

The performance of the Club Car Precedent is basic. It utilizes a DC drive system which has been around forever. It is a 250 AMP controller which is good for basic golf course use, however, if you are looking for faster acceleration, the ability to carry four people, or drive up and down a lot of hills, then look elsewhere or consider the gas version at least. All in all, the manufacturer only intended for this vehicle to go 19 MPH. If it goes faster, then make sure you understand the wear and tear a faster Golf Cart can have on your routine maintenance and repairs.

Overall, the Club Car Precedent line is a great vehicle for those getting used to Golf Carts. They are easy to find and readily available at a variety of price points. If buying electric, then we recommend purchasing with brand new batteries or at least with batteries that are less than a year old. Click here to get help with determining the battery age and condition of batteries. If buying gas, then please thoroughly check out the condition of the engine.

    warranty non existent
I recently purchased a new Onward HP car from Affordable golf carts in Ft.. Myers Florida. After 6 weeks the controller shorted out. The dealer picked up the cart, diagnosed the problem and that's where we sit. They have had the cart for 6 weeks. Club car corporate can't or won't send them out a replacement controller. Spoke to the parts warranty people in Corporate. They lie, hide and play stupid. Won't communicate with their dealer. Next step is a legal action. This dealer has 54 carts with my problem. A definite lemon situation that I think warrants a class action suit. Unless you want headaches and spend your life fighting do not purchase a club car product!!!

Batteries are terrible. Company offers warranty and doesn't stand behind it. Comfort of cart is good but performance is just okay.

    adequate for our basic needs
As a non-golfer this cart with the enclosed cab and captain seats plus seat belts, and a fan/blower is adequate for our basic needs. This comfort combination is geared toward safety, i/e turn signals plus running lights are also added features. Dependability has been an issue as the solenoid has been intermittent, finally this problem was found and solved and finally resolved after trial and error efforts. The cart is like new now, with casual use it should serve my wife and I well from now on.

    Great cart
Bought this golf cart used, was a fleet cart for local course. I removed golf bag holders, turf repair & cooler then added rear seat/cargo tray. Also added LED light to front and rear, as well as under glow led kit. Last upgrade was adding some Detroit Red Wing decals to front and sides.

    Golf cart is very smooth
I got this golf cart for free from a random person on Facebook marketplace. The golf cart feels amazing and is very smooth. I love how quiet this thing is. I have put new tires and batteries on it since owning it. I’m surprised at the way this thing is able to drive thru wet grass and even mud without getting stuck. Has plenty of power.

    LOVE this golf cart!
I LOVE this golf cart! It is a 2017 Club Car Precedent. I had an older EZGO and it didn't last long at our place down on the Texas coast. It rusted out and was always breaking down. When I got the Club Car, I thought I was in Heaven. It is much faster, 48 v., and easier to drive. It looks great, too! I love it! I get lots of compliments.

    LOVE MY 2012 PRECEDENT
I have owned mine for about a year now, bought it from a neighbor who bought it from a golf course so it's well used, but despite that it has been rock solid reliable. We live in Bluffton, SC and here are allowed to take carts up to two miles from our home in the streets. With that, we drive our cart everywhere. Drop the kids off at school. WalMart, Target, Grocery shopping, downtown, etc... it has been rock solid. Sad to say, I have neighbors with EZGO's and it seems like they are always having issues. I also like to point out their antiquated steel frames. Aluminum is the way to go! I had the "personal speed code" programmed in by Club Car, good for 19-20mph, added lights, horn, turn signals, 205/55/10 tires and rims (didn't lift the cart) rear seat, and seatbelts front and rear. It's the perfect street setup.

    2007 Club Car Precedent
My family was searching for a golf cart intended just for fun in the neighborhood like riding to the community pool, go to the park, going to neighbors Sunday Funday parties. We looked and test drove the major brands like EZGo, Yamaha and Club Car. I spoke with a golf cart mechanic who was not selling us anything. He works on all brands of carts and he told us that the Club Car Precendent is the best model available. He specifically recommended them for people who want to add a lift kit. He said they are by far the most stable of the lifted carts - much better than EZgo and yamaha. He had some concerns about families with children tipping over. He also said that the Precedent is a better quality and that they break down much less frequently than EZGo. Also the Club car is made from an aluminum frame which will not rust unlike the other brands. Older EZGo and yamahas will rust at the frame and that is no good at all. Plus the aluminum fram is lighter and thus faster!
So a few months later we purchased a used 2007 Club Car Precedent. We added a rear seat and a 6 inch lift kit. It has been so much fun for the family. We use it more than we thought we would. It is 48v version and has worked great even though it is over 11 years old now. No rusting. Such fun! Making great family memories with this thing. They do cost a little more but they are built better and I think aesthetically they are the best looking.

Great Family Cart for the Value
I purchased a 2011 refurb in 2013. New batteries and rear seat added. We drive it everyday and haven't had any problems except flat tires every now and then.
