E-Z-GO Freedom RXV Golf Cart Review

EZGO vehicles have been around for quite some time and have expanded their market presence the past few years with some innovative models. Their EZGO RXV model was introduced in 2007 with an AC motor system. It was one of the first of its kinds to be introduced to the Golf Cart market.

One of the innovative features of the EZGO Freedom RXV Golf Cart was the inclusion of a motor brake built into the motor making it so when you come to a stop, you do not have to engage the motor brake manually – It locks automatically. This is very advantageous for the average golfer since they do not have to engage the parking brake as they go to hit their ball each time. On the downside though, it is not the safest brake to use while driving, especially at speeds over 20 MPH. Also, since the motor brake runs off the battery power, if your batteries are dead, then the vehicle will not move until a service professional can get access to the vehicle.

The RXV line pushed the boundaries of the typical golf cart with their AC Motor system and motor brake. They did have some major motor issues in the roll out of the new product, however, golfers have enjoyed the features. It would be recommended to avoid some of the 2007 to 2009 year models if looking to purchase. Also, be aware that if the vehicle goes over 20 MPH because of modifications, then there is a significant higher chance of motor and controller failure since it could be prone to overheat.

    Overall great
This cart was purchased because it runs faster than 20. Love the auto parking brake system. Plus, when you remove foot from accelerator, the cart slows because of the motor. Hope I can find reasonable priced enclosure.

    We love this golf cart!
It is very comfortable to drive and ride in. It has a lot of oomph as well. When you want it to go, it goes! Seats are roomy and you don't feel squished. I highly recommend this model and brand! You can't go wrong with this purchase!!

    Extremely reliable and dependable.
My EZGO RXV runs strong and it a great overall cart for the money. Extremely reliable and dependable. The only knock I would have is that I wish they ran as fast as a Yamaha. That's more of a personal preference thing for me. I hate to lose at anything. But overall, for the money, a really good cart.

    Tosses You Out Of Cart
I could not be more displeased - bought this 2019 NEW EZGO RGV Freedom ten thousand dollar golf cart from Mission Golf in San Antonio - it began not being on when I got back to cart - had to turn it off, wait a bit, turn it back on & it’d work - then out of blue going down 9 fwy it totally locks up, tosses me (a 72 year old man) out onto fwy and had I not automatically gone into my USMC roll maneuver I’m sure I’d still be in hospital - cart went on two tires and thanks to God’s grace it didn’t fall on me

They picked it up - its 4-6 months old - and said it had a weak battery - then b4 getting it back they said they put in a new motor because it was overheating to 300 plus degrees in first 5 min

They returned it and said it is fixed - WRONG! On 1st hole seat fell off - cart nan cane out and said screw holes are stripped - be very careful and maybe can finish round

Then on hole 14 cart locked up exactly like it did b4 and tossed me, a 72 year okd, out onto the cart path - I’m ok but what if my wife or grandkids had been in it either time?

They have it again to do what? How can they expect me to take it back? It IS going to hurt somebody seriously! I still iwe $9,000 on it - what do I do? If you’re an atty and want to represent me in this contact je?

Front Camber Problem Wearing Front Tires On The Inside
The camber alignment on my new RXV FREEDOM GOLF CARE is negative and wearing my front tires on the inside. There is no adjustment for camber and so far I am not getting any positive response from the EZGO dealer or the district representative. It appears that if EZGO does not correct this problem I will have to take the deficient parts to a machine shop and correct the problem myself. I live in a golf course community and there are several other EZGO RXV FREEDOM cart owners that are having the same or similar problems with camber tire wear. I traded a 2009 RXV FREEDOM CART in on this one that had no alignment problems but the parts on that one were different. I really like this cart a lot but if EZGO cant fix this alignment issue I am done with the EZGO COMPANY and will never do business with them again.

    Overall Great Golf Cart
Love the A/C motor as it holds it's speed uphill better than the others. Absolutely love the automatic braking. Great innovation!

Cart front storage is small and cart seating is too upright and not very comfortable. Bag storage is also too upright. Clubs should hang at a slight rear angle and they don't causing them to tangle, etc.

    Positives far outweigh the negatives.
