Hey, are you going to the Master’s tournament this year – April 11 through April 14 at the stunning Augusta National Golf Course in Augusta, Georgia? If so, here are a few follow up questions for you.
Question No. 1: Do you own a Club Car?
Question No. 2: Do you own a cell phone?
Question No. 3: Do you own a tuxedo?
Well, you’re in luck, because you only need the cell phone. If you do and you’re in Augusta, Ga. on the weekend of (arguably) the most prestigious sporting event of the year, then you are invited to participate in a unique charity event sponsored by Club Car, which also calls the town of Augusta home.
Strategically, Club Car has placed more than 90 golf and consumer branded vehicles at various Augusta business locations. All you have to do to participate is find a vehicle, adorn said vehicle with yourself, your friends, maybe a passing acquaintance or two – with anyone at all, really – and snap a casual selfie.
That’s it. Snap a selfie and send it to the designated website at kicks99.com and you will be eligible to win one of four prizes posted by the company. Prizes include a golf getaway at Reynolds Lake Oconee (just east of Atlanta), a Club Car Onward, a $500 Visa gift card, and two tickets to Guitar Pull.
And that’s just for the price of a selfie that includes any of the Club Car vehicles you can find parked in the business district of Augusta.
Everyone can also celebrate the other portion of the event, which is Club Car’s pledge to make a donation to the LPGA USGA Girls golf program at the Augusta Chapter of the First Tee, “demonstrating its commitment to giving back to … diversity, inclusion and parity among women; and to growing the game of golf,” the company said.
First Tee is an organization that has had an explosive impact on the game of golf. It is an international youth development organization that began in 1997 and involves 5 million kids annually.
First Tee’s National School Program is available in more than 10,000 elementary schools nationally and boasts of “150 chapters at more than 1,200 golf courses and The First Tee Drive at 1,300 youth centers,” according to their website.
Currently, expanding internationally, the program is available at six international locations as part of its effort to promote the game, serve youth with a fun, “life-enhancing” activity and maintain the spirit of diversity for the grand old game.
“This is a fun week and an opportunity for us to showcase the good works of our employees and to reaffirm our commitment to the community, specifically The First Tee and its program designed to empower girls,” said Club Car President, Mark Wagner.
Yeah, you don’t really need a tuxedo, after all. Just a pair of shorts, a tee shirt and a big grin. That will do just fine.
