There’s no doubt that golf cart use on public streets is becoming more and more of a popular thing. It’s great to see city officials embracing the eco-friendly mode of transportation as gas prices rise and electric vehicles start showing up in our day to day lives.
Harold Moore of Davis Islands in Tamp, FL is pressuring the city to legalize golf cart use on city streets. “We have too many speeders, so I think that this can be used as a traffic calming device,” said Moore. “We’re so laid back,” Moore continued.
According to NBC News Channel 8, Tampa police already look the other way when they see golf carts on the streets, so it seems it is only logical to go ahead and make them legal.
Also, making the island a golf cart community would relax some of the rules about golf cart equipment.
Even the mayor, who owns a golf cart, is onboard.
“You don’t want underage kids driving the golf carts, but other than that, I don’t know why it’s such a big deal,” said Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn.
