GALVESTON, TEXAS – Five people were reported injured after a white SUV swerved to avoid a golf cart crossing on FM 3005 at Galveston’s West End. While avoiding the golf cart, the vehicle rolled over three times and ejected passengers whom were inside the SUV.
The SUV was heading east on the highway on Wednesday, March 14, and the golf cart was reportedly clipped by the SUV. All the passengers of the vehicle were younger than 20. One passenger, a young woman, was flown by helicopter to the University of Texas Medical Branch at a critical condition.
The driver of the golf cart and three other passengers of the SUV were brought to the medical branch with no reported fatalities as reported by Police Department spokesman Capt. Joshua Schirard.
The police had shut down part of FM 3005 in order to conduct further investigation. There was no immediate arrest for the incident until a final investigation has been made.
